Jiangsu Province has six cities ranked among thetop 30 in the country in the 2022 National Report on City Innovation CapabilityMonitoring, released by the Ministry of Science and Technology on February 15.

Among the six cities,Nanjing rose from 4th to 2nd place, while Suzhou ranked 7th.

Innovation-driven citiesrefers to those with strong innovation capabilities, prominent roles ofscientific and technological resources, high levels of sustainable development,and a significant contribution to the regional growth. The ministry launchedthe initiative in 2010, and the latest report added new indicators, such as thenumber of students in universities and high-level scientific and technologicalprofessionals.

Jiangsu has 13 citiesrecognized in the initiative. The top 10 cities in the report are Shenzhen,Nanjing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Xi¡¯an, Suzhou, Changsha, Hefei, andQingdao. Additionally, Wuxi, Changzhou, Zhenjiang, and Yangzhou in Jiangsuranked 12th, 15th, 24th and 30th, respectively.

The Institute ofScientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC) also released theNational Evaluation Report on City Innovation Capability.
